Remember the blogging era? The early 2000s were dominated by all sorts of blogs, from fashion to food and pop culture analysis. They were always at your fingertips, ready and waiting for a quick read over your morning coffee or to fill those dragging afternoon hours at your lazy girl job.

But while blogs may have more or less gone the way of Myspace, Substack newsletters have stepped up to fill the void. Substack is a tech platform that allows anyone to create, publish and get paid for a subscription newsletter, and a whole host of talented journalists, writers, poets and culture critics have jumped on board. That means we have a whole lot of immensely readable content of both the free and paid variety. But, with so many (seriously, there are a lot) out there, how do you know what's worth subscribing to?

Lucky for you, Refinery29 has rounded up the best Substack newsletters to brighten up your inbox. Enjoy!
