In Case You Just Googled "Last-Minute Halloween Costumes"...

When it comes to Halloween, there are two types of people out in the world: those who have "it" and those who don't. The ones who have "it" usually come up with their costumes way ahead of time. And they're not just regular costumes, either — they would never be "sexy anything," they would never wear something you can just buy in a bag at the pop-up costume store, and they would never wear something that would result in matching someone else's costume at a party.

This post is not for them.

This post is for the rest of us. The ones who ignore Halloween because we can never come up with a cool costume, or the ones who managed to come up with good ideas years ago and are aware that lightning will not strike twice. For those of us who in high school dressed up as Gwen Stefani for Halloween parties because that's what we already dressed like all the time — and didn't even bother with a blonde or pink wig because that would be too much effort.

For you, who just Googled "last-minute halloween costume" because you told yourself you weren't going to do anything this year yet somehow greed to go to a costume party, and as much as you don't care about Halloween you also don't want to be that guy who shows up in regular clothes. Don't worry, we've got you covered.

The best trick for pulling off a last-minute costume, is to think not of actual things — people, characters, objects — but instead focus on a concept or an expression. Like say, a party animal? We know you are groaning a little inside, but you're also interested, and this costume is so easy! Consider wearing all your glitziest, sparkliest clothes. We're talking sequins, those weird holographic pieces you got from American Apparel years ago, and all the metallic leather and glitter you can handle.
Top the look off with an animal-print coat if you have one (and if you've been meaning to get one, then maybe use this as an excuse?), then stop by the halloween store, or a Walgreens, and pick up a pair of ears and a tail — which you can also make yourself if you are crafty — and boom! You're ready to roar the night away.
Another great way to nail a last-minute costume is to concentrate on a prop. That's where our favourite bad gal, Rihanna comes in. You know how she's always being photographed leaving places with a glass of wine in her hand? Yup. That's your costume.
Considering the wide range of styles that Rihanna wears, you can surely find something in your closet that matches it. Whether it be pyjamas, an oversized sweatshirt, a Canadian tuxedo, or Timbs, you can probably make a RiRi look happen in no time. After that, all you'll need is a glass of wine! Couldn't be easier, really.
Mash-ups are always a great way to land a winner Halloween costume. A pop-culture costume will always be great but when you make it two pop-culture costumes in one, you're basically showing the world that you are on an AP Halloween level. Say you love Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton and those iconic It-Girls of the early-aughts. And say you also recently say the movie IT, and you loved it, and you are trying to bring your diverse set of interests together. know where we're going with this. Be an IT-girl! (Get it? You also must say "get it?" when people ask you what you are dressed like, it's part of the fun.)
This costume gives you lots of great options. You can do your "take" on a clown costume, keeping your whole look within a red and white colour palette, or you can pull out that pink Juicy Couture sweatsuit buried deep in your drawers out for a walk. Check out YouTube for the makeup tutorials and consider buying a red wig, or at the very least a red balloon.
Do you love puns? Do you love Cardi B? If you're like us then the answer to both those questions is YES, and that means we've got the costume for you! Incorporate as much — or as little — as you want from a bee costume. Maybe you just do the wings, maybe you do the antennae, maybe you keep your outfit to black and yellow and then throw a cardigan on top!
Since you'll probably already be wearing a cardigan anyway because it's October and it's cold, this is a great way to stay cozy and comfortable throughout the night. If you've got a pair of Loubs you might wanna pop them on too, but if not, this is a night where it's okay to take some red tempera to the soles of your shoes. Now you're ready to show off those "money moves" all night long.
