Hilary Duff's Daily Skin-Care Routine Will Set You Back £1,000

At 29, Hilary Duff has already lived many lives: She’s been a Disney star, a teen idol, a singer, an actress, a mother, and even a one-time Brooklyn resident. But at the end of the day, she’s just a human being who loves Byredo fragrances and a good three-figure serum, and apparently lives right above a SoulCycle.

Duff dished on her extensive beauty regimen — and her proximity to boutique fitness classes — in a new interview with the New York Times, and her eye for products is clearly far superior than her ex’s DIY haircut skills.

Ahead, we’ve broken down each step of Duff’s daily regimen, from her favourite mascara to the conditioning treatment that keeps her blond hair bright. We’ve already gleaned from the Younger actress’ social media presence that she’s big on hair and makeup transformations, but her skin-care routine is epic, too — $1,244 (£995) worth of epic, to be exact. No wonder she plays a 20-something on TV.

“Harold Lancer has been my dermatologist for probably six years,” Duff says of the celebrity doc, who’s also credited with being Kim Kardashian’s go-to skin guru. She exfoliates with the Polish from Lancer’s eponymous line. “You do it dry, so it’s kind of abrasive, but I find it really makes a difference if you do it every day.” Duff is also a fan of Lancer’s lash serum.

“My favourite serum is from 3Lab. It’s super expensive, but I don’t use it all the time.” Duff didn’t specify which of the brand’s serums she’s partial to, but this beloved (and pricey) choice seems like a safe bet.

“I use La Mer cream,” she says. “I want a thick layer on my face.”

Duff uses this silky, lightweight eye cream, which contains organic essential oils and plant extracts to brighten the orbital area and protect against signs of fatigue.

“Right now, I’m using a Glossier gel kind of sunscreen.” The cool-girl company’s newest addition boasts SPF 35 coverage in a clear water-gel formula that leaves no white cast or greasy residue behind.

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35, available at Glossier.
“I do masks all the time,” Duff says. “I did the GlamGlow SuperMud one last week.” Add her to the ever-growing list of the mask’s celebrity fans.

Duff likes this one, too — a luxurious anti-ageing treatment that helps to firm, brighten, calm, and hydrate skin. Also, it’s gold.

“I love the resurfacing pads,” she says of this multipurpose peel, which combats fine lines, uneven texture, dryness, hyperpigmentation, and more.

“I use this brow serum I get from Amazon called Neubrow,” Duff says. “It helps because I don’t have a lot of brow hair, and I’m always penciling in.”

She likes this best-selling tinted moisturiser for the same reasons the rest of us do: It makes skin look naturally fresh and glowy, and lasts all day.

“I like a lot of Kevyn Aucoin products, especially for contour and highlighting,” Duff explains. “I like to have a bit of a shaded face — that’s my go-to look. I carve a little cheekbone with a contour.”

Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder, available at Kevyn Aucoin.
“I use a Smashbox mascara called Full Exposure. It doesn’t drop, and it has a fatter brush that I like.”

“Recently I got all these glitter eyeliners from Urban Decay. It’s chunky glitter. I went over to my friend’s house, and she said to me, ‘I’m digging your eighth-grade liner, girl.’”

“I really love the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua foundation for a nighttime dinner or something.”

“If I’m doing a lip, I’m really into all of the Tom Ford matte colours. They’re all named after boys, which is really funny. I like Bradley, I like Evan, and this one I have on is Cristiano.”

“There’s this line I’m obsessed with at Sephora called Bum Bum Cream. It smells so good! And now they have a lip balm, and I can’t stop. My son smelled it the other day, and he goes, ‘Mom that smells like Hawaii.’ I was like, ‘I know, let’s go!’”

“Right now I’m using a R&Co colour shampoo and conditioner,” Duff says. She also loves the brand’s Sail Soft Wave Spray and Mannequin Paste for styling.

R+Co Gemstone Colour Shampoo, and Conditioner, available at R+Co.
“I also use this purple conditioner for blondes called Fabuloso by Evo — it comes in a big funny tube. That’s like a once-a-week thing.”

Evo Fabulous in Platinum Blonde, available at Evo.
“I use the BlowPro hair spray — it’s my favourite because it’s really light and smells like Christmas cookies.”

BlowPro Blow Out Spray, available at BlowPro.
Of Duff’s two all-time favourite fragrances, one — Gaiac by Le Labo — is sadly out of production, but if you’re dying to smell like the star, you can still reach for Byredo’s Inflorescence. “It’s very floral, but it’s also lemony and citrusy,” she says.

Byredo Inflorescence Eau de Parfum, available at Byredo.
