90s Style File: Mariah Carey

Was there ever a voice that sounded more like a glittering spring bursting forth from a crystal fountain somewhere in heaven than Mariah Carey's? No, no there wasn't nor will there ever be. Was there ever a wardrobe in the history of fashion that was so well-equipped to dress a diva? Probably not, no. Consisting of an arsenal of little white dresses, sequinned ballgowns, butterfly embellished baker boy hats and Tommy Hilfiger denim, we'd like to re-introduce you to the magic that is Mariah Carey's '90s wardrobe.

Ms Carey arrived on the music scene in 1990 with her first single "Vision Of Love". Mariah has a fair few records under her disc-belt too; she chilled for six weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 with "One Sweet Day", which is still the longest-running number-one song in U.S. chart history. Then in 1997 we were blessed with "Butterfly" and come 1998, she bagged the world's best-selling recording artist of the 1990s at the World Music Awards before being named the best-selling female artist of the millennium in 2000. Then Glitter the film came out, but let's just skip over that.

"Merry Christmas" is quite probably the greatest Christmas album to have ever been written, and has sold over 15 million copies worldwide; her carpool with James Corden was the best ever; she styled out being in a sling for months; and she calls her twin children Morocco and Monroe "dem babies."

There's no denying that despite Carey progressing into middle-age in an eruption of glitter and feathers, our ultimate Mariah moments happened in the '90s. Here, in no particular order are some of Mariah's most iconic looks.
