How is it May already? Hmm, maybe it feels like it rolled around fast because we spent most of April in the cinema. And intend to do the same until at least June. So, here's a cursory run down of everything that's coming out over the next month film-wise.

My date top tip is Everybody Wants Some!! My bank-holiday-Monday-feeling-like-you-want-to-cry top cheer up tip is the latest X-Men. My film to see if you wanna show off down the pub is Terrence Malick's new epic Knight Of Cups. And there's a bunch more good stuff for all of the occasions in between, handily summarised ahead.

    Enjoy!

    Bad Neighbours 2 - 6th of May

If the trailer is anything to go by, it doesn't seem highly important for you to have seen Bad Neighbours 1 to enjoy Bad Neighbours 2. It has slapstick comedy, a shirtless Zac Effron and was produced by and stars Seth Rogen. All key elements for a mindless but enjoyable watch.

Florence Foster Jenkins – 6th of May

After playing a rock star mom in Ricki and the Flash, Meryl Streep has turned her acting talents to quite a different role – that of a New York heiress who tried to become an opera singer, despite having a terrible singing voice. A story about a rich person buying their way into a profession might irk some people, but Streep no doubt plays a likeable Jenkins, with Hugh Grant ever chipper in a supporting role. Directed by Stephen Frears – the man behind Dangerous Liaisons, The Queen, Philomena, and other films your mum likes.

Knight Of Cups – 6th of May

Terrence Malick once again meditates on The Meaning Of Life, only this time with sex, drugs and Christian Bale. The director behind Badlands and Days of Heaven – two of the best films ever made – always gets our vote when it comes to what to see at the cinema. However, his more recent films Tree of Life and To The Wonder were disappointing, so we wonder how this one will measure up. Also starring Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Imogen Poots and Freida Pinto as Bale's various love interests, lucky man.

No idea what the name "Knight of Cups" is about, sorry.

I Saw The Light – 6th of May

When will we reach peak Tom Hiddleston? I worry that we never will. That he will be in everything forever. And we will never know another leading man again. Anyway, here he is playing American country music star Hank Williams. His accent sounds a lot like Matthew McConaughey... just sayin'.

The Angry Birds Movie – 13th of May

What could be more annoying than the Angry Birds game? The Angry Birds movie of course! Listen, if you're less cynical than me, and/or have kids, you may want to watch these irate CGI animals winding each other up. For over an hour.
